paddy green wins gold

Paddy Green Cider Wins GOLD!

Our Paddy Green Hard Cider is a gold medalist! The Irish-inspired cider took the gold medal at the 2018 Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAPS). The GLINTCAPS are one of the largest competitions of its kind in the United States. It takes place each May in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Paddy Green ranked in the top six percent of all 1500 ciders entered into the competition. The gold medal was in the modern dry category. We know our fans love this cider, and now the judges have spoken, too! Paddy Green is a winner all around. Paddy Green is made of 100% Granny Smith apples grown in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central, Virginia. In fact, the local orchard, Silver Creek & Seaman Orchard is just a few miles up the road from our cidery where the cider is made. Doesn’t get much more local than that. Paddy Green is a fairly dry cider with a tart finish and has an ABV of 5.5%. You can now purchase Paddy Green in cans! Enjoy!
blue toad lilac

Blue Toad at the Rochester Lilac Festival

It’s May in Rochester, and that can only mean one thing. It’s Lilac Festival time! We are excited to set up a booth for the second year in a row. Along with other delicious local breweries, wineries and cideries, our booth will be set up at the Wine Tasting Expo at the Rochester Lilac Festival on Saturday, May 12 from noon to 8:30pm.

Our feature beverage is very thematic – The Flower City Lilac Cider, proudly distributed by Wright Beverage Distributing. Our lilac cider is a celebration of the Flower City. A refreshing and crisp cider, locking in the tastes and smells of springtime in Rochester. We use Rochester’s own hand-picked lilacs to infuse into our cider.

CIDERCRAFT Magazine out of Seattle, Washington recently reviewed our Flower City Lilac and had this to say:

Tasting Notes

A trumpeter of forthcoming summer, the lilac flower proclaims the season softly in this salmon-hued cider, decorated in the glass with big, bouncing bubbles. The nose whispers sweet blossoms with honeyed apple and pear skin, but the palate brings in fringing floral qualities with more authority, tying juicy, semi-sweet apple into the purple-flowered, quick and clean finish.

Review

Flower City Lilac is a lovely blend of springtime in a can. It is produced by steeping locally sourced, hand-picked, dried lilac flowers in their Flower City Blonde Hard Cider. The end result is a delicious, light, and refreshing beverage that epitomizes springtime in Rochester. The lilac notes are accompanied by a hint of hibiscus, which also contributes to the floral aroma.
